Thursday's Beef Stew

I'm making a big pot of beef stew for dinner. I haven't made it a long time. I don't use a real recipe I just dump stuff in. I use a package of Stew Beef, dipped in flour then placed in a dutch oven that has Crisco melted in it. Then I brown the beef along with a chopped up onion. After the beef has browned somewhat I then add two beef bouillon cubes that I have dissolved in two cups boiling water. I then add chopped carrots, cubed potatoes, salt and pepper, then add some water and simmer until ready to eat. If the broth in the stew needs thickening I melt a little margarine in a pan, after the margarine is melted I add a little flour, stir until brown, then mix up one beef bouillon cube in one cup water and add to the margarine and flour mixture and stir until thick then add to the stew. Toward the end of cooking the stew I add a can of tiny early June sweet peas )I prefer LeSueur Peas ) and let then heat up.
Tonight I'll serve biscuits with the beef stew.

Tina picked up Wesley a little early today so I was able to vacuum the living room earlier then I normally do when he is here. He hates the vacuum so I try not to use it when he is here. I should dust, but I think I'll save it for tomorrow. I have clothes to fold, but I'm going to wait and fold them while watching my shows on NBC tonight.

I hope everyone is having a good Thursday!

You must be a fan of 'The Office'. I love that show, that and '30 Rock
I looked for those peas at walmart and they didn't have them. I think next time I make stew I will try your recipe. The one I just used from another site didn't have that much flavor. I'm going to make your dumplings tomorrow night. Tonight I'm just cooking frozen chicken nuggets and boxed mac and cheese. It's not healthy, but I will throw in a salad. My back is hurting today. My mattress is so uncomfortable. It's only two years old but it's a firm one and I dont loke it. My hubby needs it firm for his back. I dont think it's fair because I'm the one sleeping in all of the time, not him. Oh well:) The potluck was nice. It was all older ladies and I like that. I will keep going.

Yummy.... beef stew. I make mine somewhat similiar to the way you do. I'll be happy when we get some cooler weather and I can cook stuff like stew, chicken and dumplings and roasted turkey. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

I really need to cook more often. All of you wonderful cooks are making me look bad. LOL.

I have never made Beef Stew before, or any type of Beef Stew, but again, Shirla, your recipe is an easy one. I will write this one down and try it in the near future.
